A-Home Electronics offers cleaning & aligment on large screen TVs. There are a few reasons why this is important. The most noticeable reason, is picture quality. When a rear project TV ages dust and residue will build up on the optical components of the TV, this reduces the amount of light displayed and also makes the picture blurry. The build up of dust on the picture tubes can also cause a picture tube to work at a higher temperature which can cause the picture tube to weaken and grow fungus.

When a picture tube weakens it can cause it not to focus properly, can reduce its brightness and can cause the picture to smear, this is most common in red picture tubes. Inside each picture tube there is a fluid that keeps the tube cool, as the TV ages fungus can grown in the coolant. Fungus growth can occur on a 4 to 8 year old TV and usually occurs in the blue tube.

Alignment of a bigscreen is necessary becuase some components will vary as the TV ages. There are two adjustments that need to be done on a regular basis. The convergence and the gray scale.

The convergence alignment, aligns the three internal picture tubes and the gray scale adjustment will keep the brightness of the individual picture tubes the same (prevents one color from being dominant).

Usually a clening and alignment should be done every 1-3 years depend on use and the enviroment.
